Have this insert installed by an avionics shop if
you do not have all the proper tools, are not a
qualified technician or are not sure you are capable
of doing this job. |
| 2. |
If your faceplate does not need painting, go to
#8. Set the identification code numbers to 7777.
(For ease of re-assembly) The faceplate will have to
be removed from the radio by removing the 4 screws,
2 on each side. |
| 3. |
Tape up the identification code numbers area and
the knobs (only if needed) to protect it from
painting. Also tape the backside to protect it from
any paint over spray. |
| 4. |
Fill any dents with an auto body plastic filler or
similar material. |
| 5. |
Lightly sand with a fine grit sandpaper for good
paint adhesion. |
| 6. |
Paint the faceplate with a quality paint such as
Krylon's 1613 Semi-Flat Black paint. |
| 7. |
After the paint dries, remove the protective tape. |
| 8. |
Remove the three (3) original decal inserts as
needed. # 1) The main decal, # 2) Narco Logo if
required and # 3) AT 50# or Reply Ident as required. There is a
short ridge/lip around where the original switch
decal was removed. File, scrape, or chisel that
small ridge off. Any scratches on the face will be
hidden by the new insert. |
| 9. |
Remove the double face tape backing from the new
insert. |
| 10. |
Place the new inserts onto the faceplate.
Reinstall faceplate onto the radio with the 4
screws. |
