Have this insert installed by an avionics shop if you do
not have all the proper tools, are not a qualified
technician or are not sure you are capable of doing this
job. |

DO NOT remove the faceplate
from the radio unless you are a fully qualified avionics
repair person. |

Remove the knobs. |
| 4. |
Double check for the proper
fit of the new faceplate. |
| 5. |
Use a small, sharp wood
chisel to remove all the raised text and trim accent
borders. Be careful not to gouge out excess material, Sand
flush as needed. |

If the faceplate areas not
covered by the new insert does not need painting then go
to #10. Use tape and paper to protect the lens areas, the
metal chassis and the knob shafts from any paint
over-spray. |
| 7. |
Fill any dents with a
plastic auto body or a model builders filler. |
| 8. |
Lightly sand with a fine
grit sandpaper for good paint adhesion. |
| 9. |
Paint the faceplate with a
quality paint such as Krylon'sŪ 1613 Semi-Flat Black
paint. |
| 10. |
When the paint is dry remove
the protective tape and paper. |
| 11. |
To paint the bands on the
knob tops apply a small quantity of silver paint
onto a scrap piece of paper. Place the tops of the knobs
into this paint and rotate the knob to get an even coat of
paint. |

Remove the double face tape
backing from the new insert. |
| 13. |
Place the new insert onto
the faceplate, being careful to align the window areas
carefully. Press firmly to attach the faceplate. Reinstall
the knobs onto the radio. |

Tell all your aircraft
buddies about Aircraft Engravers and place the enclosed
sticker on the metal case for future reference. |
